Mellan 2011 och 2016 tillhörde han Liverpool. Förra sommaren flyttade José Enrique till spanska Real Zaragoza.

Den 31-årige vänsterbacken spelade 27 ligamatcher i fjol. Men nu väljer Enrique att sluta med fotbollen.

"Det är med ett mycket tungt hjärta som jag i dag meddelar att jag slutar med professionell fotboll. Det har varit ett mycket svårt beslut att ta och acceptera. Jag hade älskat att spela fler år på min bästa nivå om min kropp hade tillåtit mig, men alla bra saker har ett slut", skriver han på Instagram.

 

it comes with a very heavy heart today to announce my retirement from professional football. Its been a very hard decision to take and accept. I would of loved to have played more years at my best level if my body would of let me but all good things have to come to an end and more in football. I just want to say a huge thanks to all of the fans and clubs who have supported me throughout my career. You have been the best!
